We can efficiently generate a list of numbers in Python using the range built-in constructor.

Examples

To generate a list of numbers from 0 to 5:

# Use range to generate list of numbers from 0 to 5
nums = range(6)
nums_list = list(nums)
print(nums_list)
[0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

By specifying the step argument x, we can generate a list of every xth number:

# Use range to generate list of every fifth number from 0 to 20
nums = range(0, 21, 5)
nums_list = list(nums)
print(nums_list)
[0, 5, 10, 15, 20]
