We can efficiently generate a list of numbers in Python using the range
built-in constructor.
Examples
To generate a list of numbers from 0 to 5:
# Use range to generate list of numbers from 0 to 5nums = range(6)nums_list = list(nums)print(nums_list)
[0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
By specifying the step argument x
, we can generate a list of every x
th number:
# Use range to generate list of every fifth number from 0 to 20nums = range(0, 21, 5)nums_list = list(nums)print(nums_list)
[0, 5, 10, 15, 20]
