We can add arrows to an annotation in Matplotlib by passing the arrowprops
argument to the ax.annotate(~)
method.
Examples
To annotate the point (0.1, 0.1)
with an arrow from annotation text at (0, 0.6)
:
fig, ax = plt.subplots()ax.plot([0, 1],[0, 1])ax.annotate("This is an annotation", xy=(0.1, 0.1), xytext=(0, 0.6), arrowprops={"arrowstyle":"->", "color":"gray"})plt.show()
This produces the following output:
You can further customize the properties of the arrow. Full options can be found from the official documentationopen_in_new.
