The class method datetime.now()
can be used to return the current local date and time.
Parameters
1. tz
| tzinfo
object | optional
A tzinfo
object that specifies which time zone that date and time is associated with to make the resulting datetime object timezone aware. Defaults to None
(i.e. timezone naive).
Return value
Returns a datetime
object representing current local date and time.
Examples
Getting current local date and time
from datetime import datetime current_datetime = datetime.now()print(current_datetime)
2020-03-20 06:41:11.263686
Note that current_datetime
here is a naive datetime object.
Creating a timezone aware datetime
To associate created datetime object with UTC timezone:
from datetime import datetime, timezone
utc_datetime = datetime.now(timezone.utc)
print(utc_datetime)print(utc_datetime.tzinfo)
2021-01-09 04:31:01.444674+00:00UTC
