To append to a tag's content in Beautiful Soup, use the Tag.append(~) method.

Example

Consider the following HTML document:

my_html = "<p>I'm Alex.</p>"
soup = BeautifulSoup(my_html)

Appending a string

To append a string to the p tag's content:

p_tag = soup.find("p")
p_tag.append(" Nice to meet you!")
print(p_tag)
<p>I'm Alex. Nice to meet you!</p>

Appending a tag

To append a tag to the p tag's content:

# Create a new tag and initialise it's content
new_tag = soup.new_tag("b")
new_tag.string = "Bob"

p_tag = soup.find("p")
p_tag.append(new_tag)
print(p_tag)
<p>Alex<b>Bob</b></p>

Note that you could build your own tag using string <b>Bob</b> and then perform the append.
