Pandas DataFrame.isna(~) method returns a boolean mask where True is set for missing values (NaN) and False for non-missing values.

NOTE

This method is equivalent to DataFrame.isnull().

Parameters

The method does not take any parameters.

Return value

A boolean mask where True is set for missing values (NaN) with False for non-missing values.

Examples

Consider the following DataFrame:


        
        
            
                
                
                    import numpy as np
df = pd.DataFrame({"A":[np.NaN,2], "B":[3,np.NaN]})
df
                
            
               A    B
0  NaN  3.0
1  2.0  NaN

To check for missing values:


        
        
            
                
                
                    df.isna()
                
            
               A      B
0  True   False
1  False  True

Note that this is useful, for instance, if you want to know how many missing values there are in your DataFrame:


        
        
            
                
                
                    df.isna().values.sum()
                
            
            2
