Consider the following DataFrame:
df = pd.DataFrame({"A":["a","b"],"B":[3,4]})df
A B0 a 31 b 4
Solution
To convert this DataFrame to a 2D list:
df.values.tolist()
[['a', 3], ['b', 4]]
Explanation
We first convert our DataFrame to a 2D Numpy array using its values
property:
df.values
array([['a', 3], ['b', 4]], dtype=object)
Finally, we use the tolist()
method to convert this into a standard 2D list:
df.values.tolist()
[['a', 3], ['b', 4]]
