By default columns in MySQL can take on NULL
values unless you have explicitly specified the column as NOT NULL
or UNIQUE
.
Example
Assume we have a VARCHAR
column test_column
within table test_table
that is currently explicitly set to not accept NULL
values.
To modify test_column
to be VARCHAR(10)
which can take NULL
values:
ALTER TABLE test_table MODIFY test_column VARCHAR(10);
Although we used a VARCHAR
column here, the same logic applies to any other data type column.
