Beautiful Soup's wrap(~) method wraps an element with the specified tag and returns the new wrapper.

Examples

Consider the following html:

my_html = """
   <p>Hello <b>World</b></p>
"""
soup = BeautifulSoup(my_html)

To wrap the <b> tag with a <div> tag:

soup.b.wrap(soup.new_tag("div"))
<div><b>World</b></div>

To wrap the string of the <b> tag with a <div> tag:

soup.b.string.wrap(soup.new_tag("div"))
<div>World</div>
