Beautiful Soup's Tag.insert(~)
method adds the provided input to a tag's content at the provided numeric position.
Parameters
1. position
| number
The index at which to place the element.
2. new_child
| string
The string or element to insert.
Examples
Consider the following HTML:
my_html = """<div><p>Alex</p><p id="bob">Bob</p><p>Cathy</p></div>"""soup = BeautifulSoup(my_html)
Here, there are 5 locations where we can insert new content:
my_html = """<div> * <p>Alex</p> * <p id="bob">Bob</p> * <p>Cathy</p> * </div> *"""
The 5 locations are indicated by a *
.
NOTE
To insert a string or element at the last *
, you should use Tag.append(~)
method instead.
Let's insert some string at the 3nd *
(i.e. 2nd index):
