MySQL's DIV
operator performs integer division, discarding any fractional part of the division result.
Syntax
SELECT integer DIV integer;
Examples
To perform integer division of 7
by 2
:
SELECT 7 DIV 2;
+---------+| 7 DIV 2 |+---------+| 3 |+---------+
Notice how we only return the quotient of the division and discard the remainder.
To perform integer division of 5.9999
by 2.0
:
SELECT 5.9999 DIV 2.0;
+----------------+| 5.9999 DIV 2.0 |+----------------+| 2 |+----------------+
