MySQL's DIV operator performs integer division, discarding any fractional part of the division result.

Syntax


        
        
            
                
                
                    SELECT integer DIV integer;

Examples

To perform integer division of 7 by 2:


        
        
            
                
                
                    SELECT 7 DIV 2;
                
            
            +---------+
| 7 DIV 2 |
+---------+
|       3 |
+---------+

Notice how we only return the quotient of the division and discard the remainder.

To perform integer division of 5.9999 by 2.0:


        
        
            
                
                
                    SELECT 5.9999 DIV 2.0;
                
            
            +----------------+
| 5.9999 DIV 2.0 |
+----------------+
|              2 |
+----------------+
