PySpark DataFrame's exceptAll(~) method returns a new DataFrame that exist in this DataFrame but not in the other DataFrame.

Parameters

1. other | PySpark DataFrame

The other PySpark DataFrame.

Return Value

A PySpark DataFrame.

Examples

Consider the following PySpark DataFrame:

df = spark.createDataFrame([["Alex", 20], ["Bob", 30], ["Cathy", 40]], ["name", "age"])
df.show()
+-----+---+
| name|age|
+-----+---+
| Alex| 20|
| Bob| 30|
|Cathy| 40|
+-----+---+

Suppose the other DataFrame is:

df_other = spark.createDataFrame([["Alex", 20], ["Bob", 35], ["Cathy", 40]], ["name", "age"])
df_other.show()
+-----+---+
| name|age|
+-----+---+
| Alex| 20|
| Bob| 35|
|Cathy| 40|
+-----+---+

Getting all rows of PySpark DataFrame that do not exist in another PySpark DataFrame

To get all rows in df that does not exist in df_other:

df.exceptAll(df_other).show()
+----+---+
|name|age|
+----+---+
| Bob| 30|
+----+---+
