MySQL's PERIOD_ADD(~) method adds the specified number of months to a period (YYMM or YYYYMM).

Parameters

1. P | period

The period to which N months should be added.

2. N | integer

The number of months to add to the period P.

Return value

A period in the format YYYYMM.

Examples

To add 3 months to April 2020:

SELECT PERIOD_ADD(202004, 3);
+-----------------------+
| PERIOD_ADD(202004, 3) |
+-----------------------+
| 202007 |
+-----------------------+

To subtract 3 months from April 2020:

SELECT PERIOD_ADD(202004, -3);
