MySQL's ATAN(~) method computes the arc tangent of the input value(s).

Parameters

1. X | number

Number to calculate arc tangent for.

2. Y | number | optional

It is possible to specify a second numeric input to calculate the arc tangent.

Return value

The arc tangent of the input number(s).

Examples

Single argument

To return the arc tangent for 1:

SELECT ATAN(1);

To return the arc tangent for -5:

SELECT ATAN(-5);
