MySQL's PI() method returns the value of π (pi). The default precision is 7 decimal places, however, the double-precision value is stored internally for calculations.
Parameters
No parameters.
Return value
The value of π.
Examples
To return the value of π:
SELECT PI();
+----------+| PI() |+----------+| 3.141593 |+----------+
Double-precision value is stored internally for calculations:
SELECT 0.000000000000 + PI();
+-----------------------+| 0.000000000000 + PI() |+-----------------------+| 3.141592653590 |+-----------------------+
As we added π with a number with a precision of 12, the returned value also has precision 12.
