MySQL's CONV(~)
method converts the input number from one base to another and returns it as a string.
Parameters
1. N
| number
The number to convert.
2. from_base
| number
The base to convert the input from. Range 2 - 36.
3. to_base
| number
The base to convert the input to. Range 2 - 36.
Return value
String representation of the input number converted to the base specified by to_base
.
Examples
To convert 17
from base 10
to base 2
:
SELECT CONV(17, 10, 2);
+-----------------+| CONV(17, 10, 2) |+-----------------+| 10001 |+-----------------+
Although it is difficult to see, the returned output is a string.
To convert from hexadecimal (base 16
) to base 10
:
SELECT CONV('E', 16, 10);
+-------------------+| CONV('E', 16, 10) |+-------------------+| 14 |+-------------------+
